Gross out on that!
Christina and I made the move to desex Mia earlier this week. She’s doing well, in fact no different to usual except her tummy looks gross and her purring has gotten louder, almost as if she’s got some phlegm caught in her throat.

Mine got done yesterday, the hardest thing is to keep that plastic cone on her head. they are every crafty animal.
Hey Andy. I was wondering about the cone! They never gave us one and I spotted Mia picking at her stitches and totally freaked out (thinking her guts were going to fall out onto the floor!).
It should heal over in a few days. Mia will lick at it but you should take her back to the vet if she’s picking at it.
I used to work at the vet. It’s 10 times worse watching the actual procedure. and much worse watching the males.
Mia should get a bit more affectionate and clingy (hence the louder purring)
Hey Justin, My vet gave us the cone & insist to keep it on her little head for 5 days. I think its a good idea because the stitching might fell out & get infected if she keep licking it.
The throaty noises are probably due to the fact that they generally insert a endotracheal tube during anaesthesia (typically they spray local anaesthetic down the throat to allow the tube to go in smoothly). Things should sound normal within a few days :).
Not all cats need the buster collar cones. 95% of the time they are fine without them, if they end up picking at their stitches too much it can be more a sign of discomfort around the wound area.
Lastly, even if the skin sutures fall out, there are usually two further layers of stitches underneath (the abdominal muscles and the subcutaneous layer under the skin)!
I’m sure she’ll be fine :p
Spot on that’s exactly what we thought. Seems to have gone now. Stitches will come out next Thursday, she’s doing well!
