25 years since he passed. Family say I look like him. I think it’s the eyebrows!

Latin Poet

Caught up with Rodrigo last week, a mate I’ve not jammed with in AGES.

I always respected him as a musician, he’s the real deal, and it’s great to see him gigging more than ever.

I can respect anyone who can get up on a stage with nothing but a guitar (you have no band to hide behind and the crowd can hear all your mistakes!).

We caught up because Rod has followed me for some time, and he wanted to have an open chat about potentially getting more out there through social media.

Like many people our age, we find it hard to value Facebook and Instagram over real face to face time with friends, but I was there to convince him it’s a necessity more than an option.

Rod has mastered his craft, and for that reason alone his opinion is worth it. What he reads, sees and hears is all worth sharing, and sharing more of himself is what I think he needs to do in order to get more people to go to his gigs for that face to face time he desires.

I’ve spent the morning going through his Latin Poet Facebook Page. He’s only got 60 followers, I’m hoping you guys will take a time out, play this song, and just enjoy it for what it is, a catchy tune from the heart.

Don’t watch the video even! Just play it in another tab and do whatever it is you’re doin’.

PS: His Facebook Page; please like: LatinPoet

My misuse of Patreon

Woke up this morning to some messages which got me out of bed quick smart, they were in relation to my Patreon, which I started over a year ago when I was down in some crazy drug induced hole and couldn’t tell up from down.

I’ve made mistakes. Many. I’m trying my best not to make so many, but sometimes the crap keeps resurfacing. I’m now here to stay, and in order to stay I’ve got to make wrongs right.

I had a model reach out to me about her photos being on my Patreon, and that she never approved of them being there. I take this on board with absolute seriousness and full responsibility (or lack there-of!) as I respect all the girls I’ve ever shot with and believe the photos are theirs, not mine (if ever a girl has asked me to take photos down (mostly due to career changes), even if I paid for a shoot, then by all means I always have always taken them down).

I don’t know what I was thinking. I don’t think I was thinking at all. I know I promoted my Patreon a lot when I first launched it, and only 3 days ago I relaunched it, but did not at all see what I had posted in the past.

I’ve since removed any questionable images, and with the photos up there right now I have in writing (well… in messages) that the models in these shots are more than happy for me to have these outtake and uncensored images on my Patreon.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to do something similar with Patreon, be sure you have written permission before hand. Sounds like common sense, right? But I can say common sense has gotten the better or me many a time and I can’t assume all of you that read what I write are full of common sense, so I thought I’d still post this up as a friendly reminder.

Content on my Patreon is thinner than ever now that I’ve deleted a handful of images, but rest assured the girls featured up there right now I have permission from, and I have many more outtakes and uncensored photos to come.

Thanks to those who are willing to support me financially. It’s an embarrassing ask considering my mum has and can pay to keep me going, but I’m trying my best to put my head down and work hard like I used to, and to not rely on her, and I still dream to pay off the huge debts she’s paid on my behalf to own ZEN Garage outright.

SO excited when I came across this image on Facebook. Aleks is a kid I’ve known for YEARS. When I first met him he might have been, like 16, he was at an old EOMM at IS Motor Racing, and he had a JDM Style Tuning sticker on his… bicycle!!!

He’s getting into sign writing, which totally caught me off guard! I’m so excited for the guy!

Last night he came around and we had a killer catch up (been waaaaay too long!). Can’t wait to get him paid to make up some signs for us (Threesome, ZEN, etc!).

Cars For Hope update

A few hours after I published this Berty reached out and for the past 3.5hrs we’ve been in discussion face to face. I acknowledge that my first CFH feature upset him and his team as the JPG I used to promote that feature was nothing more than ‘click bait’, designed to get attention in order for people to read the feature. For this I’m truly sorry as I didn’t think it would cloud him and his team from reading the real meat of my story. At the same time I forced Berty to read my first article and acknowledge that my final line was that I hoped for a meeting with his team to still happen in order to discuss if CFH could build a better bridge for people suffering from depression.

Berty showed me the figures, but more importantly he gave me his word that he has never personally taken more than $5 from CFH for his own personal benefit since inception. I might have my own personal doubts, but at the end of the day I have to believe him as it’s his word against thoughts which cross my mind. So for singling him out and questioning him in public (which he and many others would take as accusing him), I apologise wholeheartedly.

Also, I was wrong about his fancy helmet as it cost him $150, and his S2000 was a seal at $11k.

In regards to what CFH spends their money on. Berty managed to explain that anyone who donates to CFH gets a personalised letter from CFH to say what the money goes into. I questioned why he would only give that information to those who donated, and why not share that information in order to inspire more people to donate. The point was taken. I also again questioned the vagueness of the CFH web site in general, and again, point taken and Berty assures me they are working on it.

Ultimately Berty had to ask whether this was the end of our friendship, and whether I would continue to question CFH in future. My answer was NO! Of-course we’re still friends, and if anything, if CFH did edit their web page they should let me know so I could share it with my community.

To all those CFH supporters who are upset with my thoughts. I apologise for making anyone upset, it wasn’t my intention. I was merely trying to explain why I wanted to remove the CFH banner from the ZEN Garage blog. I rest my case, and will not continue to express my opinions on CFH as I feel I’ve said more than enough. I acknowledge that the primary goal of CFH is to create awareness around the subject of depression, and in doing so they have saved lives, which is an amazing thing full stop.

Here’s an official response from CFH: https://carsforhope.com.au/2019/03/thank-you-for-fighting-against-stigma-with-us/
