1/1 Reebok Pumps

These 1/1 (they’re samples) Reebok Pumps are all mine! Yesterday we hosted The Kickz Stand Sneaker Swap Meet at Zen Garage and the boys gave me these kicks as a gift to say thanks. Was an amazing day despite the weather. I didn’t take any shots, but Ved did and I can’t wait to see his shots!

Mia having a good sniff like any sneaker freaker would.

Pumps!

Like a little window into the universe. I was always so fascinated by the see-through bits on sneakers as a kid.

Behind the Scenes: Simone Peres Ferrari 328 GTS Shoot

I so need to clone myself. Last night I wanted to be at 2 places at the same time; The Harley-Davidson art show (check the previous post) and shooting Simmy with a 328 GTS with Photographer Matthew Mead for Zen Garage.

Whilst I didn’t make it to my own shoot, I spent some of today hanging out with Simmy and editing Sergio’s behind the scenes shots which made me feel a little better (she’s gorgeous and he’s getting good at shooting! All I did was a bit of dynamic cropping and slight colour adjustments).

Check out the shots: http://zengarage.com.au/2013/11/behind-the-scenes-simone-peres-ferrari-328-gts-shoot

Harley-Davidson For the Love of Lids – Opening Night

My coverage of last night’s Harley-Davidson “For the Love of Lids” art show at Mary’s in Newtown is now up on Zen Garage. Was an amazing night hanging out with great people, great art, bikes, music, fried chicken, burgers and booze!

Visit: http://zengarage.com.au/2013/11/harley-davidson-for-the-love-of-lids-opening-night

PS: The show ends on the 30th of this month, so be sure to drop into Mary’s Newtown (Mary St.) before it ends!

Group shot of all the Artists.

TJ Guzzardi’s helmet. So glad to have met this guy, he’s amazing (we featured him a while back).

Ben Brown’s wild piece. I’ve know of Ben’s work for YEARS. So glad to finally meet this guy too!

Nanami’s piece on the left and Lachlan Bruce’s larger than life helmet on the right.

Our menu for the night, lots of people braved the JD Shake! Personally I stayed on the Young Henry’s and highly recommend the Mary’s Burger (oh… and the chicken!).

JoJo Diamond shoot for Zen Garage

Last Sunday I spent the day shooting JoJo at my place (she’s heaps of fun and cute as a button!). I was hoping for heaps of natural light (as my trusty GF1 loves it) but unfortunately it was a rainy day. I thought about postponing, but after a few words with some photographer friends (especially Matthew Mead who gave me words of encouragement) I decided to accept the challenge, give it a go, and try something different.

You’re meant to shoot with the light behind you, but I spent most of the day shooting silhouettes on purpose. I’m really happy with the end results. My fave pics below, more photos from the day on Zen Garage: http://zengarage.com.au/2013/11/jojo

Shooting into the light. Love this shot. Captures the grey day. JoJo’s pose is natural and her face looks amazing.

Had plenty of light for this shot so it came out normal (not silhouetted). JoJo hates this shot, but I love it, one of my faves.

Hair up! One of JoJo’s fave shots (it’s currently her facebook profile image!).

I went for a few fully silhouetted shots with some interesting results.

My fave shot of the day. I love it that the background is blown out, and that JoJo needs more light, it’s the wrong thing to do when shooting in low light, but it makes for a dynamic result.

COFA Grads Are Here There Everywhere

JustinFox_Quote_905
I have a BA in Design from the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts, recently the college emailed me with some Q&A and they’ve just launched a site which showcases some individuals who studied there once upon a time.

My profile is here: http://cofagradsareeverywhere.com.au/Justin-Fox

I would describe my job as an amalgamation of passion related projects. It’s taken me many years to pull it off, but I’ve finally managed to combine all my passions; bikes, cars, design, fashion, music, photography and art into the one project which is Zen Garage. Being the brand manager allows me to curate and promote whatever it is I’m into at the moment, without feeling unnecessary internal or external pressures to promote things that I’m not into right now. This puts me in a constant state of Zen!

I’m inspired by family and my past. I figured that I was the only me in the world, so as long as I took inspiration from myself, my past, then whatever I create would be original and true. I’ve eased up a lot of the years though and I now very happily take inspiration from popular culture, especially many grass roots sub cultures where you find individuals doing what they’re doing because they totally love what they do.

The best part of my job is I’m my own boss and I’m free to push whatever it is my heart is into, seeing others get into the stuff I’m into makes me happy. I’ve got great business partners who motivate, support and inspire me and I’m always meeting new like-minded people through running our Leichhardt store and events.

Post WTAC hangs

Spent the day hanging out with our WTAC guests today. Rad day out! I’ve only just gotten home. I’m exhausted!

Hey Ved! First stop; Deus for brunch and some drinks to celebrate.

Carby Tuckwell’s amazing work. He was a mentor of mine when I did my internship at a company called Bold (which he shared office space in) during design school.

Great minds think alike! We ran into Ian Baker, the man behind WTAC and his mate Michael who manages race car drivers (including F1!).

Anton and Serg. More drinks yayer!

Hailey and Adam.

Boston Beans.

Hey Krysti!

Made a quick stop off at Zen to unload some stock which was in the boot of my car. Hailey got acquainted with Frankie our pet snake.

We then headed to the Opera Bar.

Tourist!

Luke, Adam and I found it a little too hot under the sun so we ducked in to the MCA to check out some art.

I always love checking out the key to the Opera House.

We’d been watching this crow try to crack open a nut for about 5 minutes, then Hails decided to crack it open for him, what a gal!

Food, and more drinks!

Luke and Inessa who’s a Playboy Bunny and Rally Driver from Russia.

From Russia with Love. Inessa gave me a packet of her smokes haha.

Inessa and I.

Then we had a private viewing of Rush at the Dendy (pretty much as we were the only people in there!) with Mad Mike, Rod, Dino and Brad from Speedhunters. Movie killed me, so emotional. I absolutely loved it.

Mad Mike and Inessa.
