Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane

My good mate Ben treated me to a free ticket to Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane (ex-Faith No More/Mr Bungle) at the State Theatre last night. I had no idea what to expect as I hadn’t done any research at all but man I was blown away. We’re talking full orchestra, composer and Patton singing (sometimes smooth, sometimes wild, damn he’s good) every song in Italian. What a freak, mind blown. READ THIS.

Nana’s B’day

B’day girl & I.

Ky & I.

Seli & Nanami FIGHT!

Wasted!

The ladies playing with STD’s.

Getting my jam on.

Nanami‘s B’day last night. As expected, she’s got a lot of really wonderful creative friends. Food, booze and classic tunes from the 80’s made for a fun big night in!

Sarah broke her neck

Sarah.

Sean acting baws in Sarah’s wheelchair.

In a truly freaky and sad incident, my friend Sarah fractured her vertebra falling down a spiral staircase on January 1st, her B’day of all days! She was rushed to hospital and x-rays revealed 2 fractures to her neck (not to mention heavy bruising to her back and also bone damage to her hip). They operated on her straight away, she’s now sporting a shaved hairdo (well, the back of her head), pins in her bones and a rather large lot of stitches on the back of her head.

Amazingly she greeted us with a smile, and 7 days in she’s recovered well enough to walk a little. Sarah really wanted to get out of the hospital so Sean and I took her outside in the sun (in a wheelchair), we found a little garden and just soaked up the sun for a bit. It’s going to take a good 6 months of recovery before Sarah can (hopefully) turn her head again. Pretty hardcore, could have been worse, very glad that she’s going to be OK.

Herschel Supply Novel Dufflebag

Herschel Supply. I like the branding.

Good for holding drugs, cash or guns.

Pretty on the inside. Has a nice separate shoe compartment too on the side of the bag.

I’ve been meaning to ditch my schoolboy like laptop backpack for a while now and after a good look around I failed to find anything I liked so I started checking out other bags. I found this Herschel Supply Novel Dufflebag, it’s awesome. I love it! I bought myself an incase laptop sleeve to protect the laptop too. Job done.

Christmas

SO MANY PRESSIES!

Interesting thing I noticed; every year there are less and less cards (more emails, sms’s and facebook messages right?).

Miles was the star of the show. The reactions he got from everyone were amazing!

ABCD hehe.

I got a tonne of pressies, the cats got heaps of living too! My fave pressie was this Fox cushion from Jamie, Richie and Miles. I love it!

We had Christmas at Mums this year. Ate a lot, drank a lot (Richie’s most excellent Christmas Home Brew!), ate some more and played silly Christmas games. Got home only to realise that I’d left my sunnies, wallet and keys at Mums so I stumbled back to Mums on foot, got my keys and on the walk back I ran into a mate from the VWGolf forums, random! Continued on my way home and amazingly I sobered up instead of drinking on. Soft!

27sqm – my first solo show

Nanami, Sean and Sarah.

Title and price list.

You can view all the pieces in Sean’s show here.

I bought the piece on the right “As we all try to escape” – Sydney traffic looks beautiful through Sean’s eyes!

In a bold, and very left of field move, my buddy Sean Torstensson and his flatmate Sokquon Tran have converted their Broadway apartment into an art gallery. What used to be a very comfortable lounge room is now an art space, even the kitchen has been hidden from sight.

Milsey!

Kekekeke.

How cute is he huh?!?!

Miles isn’t so scared of Uncle Justin anymore now! We’ve made a connection, yay! :) PS: He’s SO heavy!

OUTPOST PROJECT

Flashbacks of shutter island. Riven even.

Mind blowing stuff right?

Damn should have brought a picnic.

Roa.

Nanami chalking one up.

Andy Uprock.

Made of plastic cups stuffed into the fence.

Ears.

Banksy was here.

Will Coles.

These Japanese breakers were going off. The Red Bull Shadow Wars had b-boys and b-girls from around the country battling it out in front of a pretty huge energetic crowd.

The warm-up floor was pretty cool to watch too.

You can actually pay to camp overnight on the island, or even rent one of the houses at the very top if camping isn’t your thing. The sheer amount of work on display had me wondering whether the artists actually camped out whilst they put Outpost together.

Then we found this hole in the wall.

The tunnel was lined with art, and went forever. Reminded me of the entrance to the batcave.

James Jirat.

Ears.

As huge as it gets with a spray can.

Prosciutto pizza at the bar was awesome. Beers, wines, champagne, people were getting wasted in the sun, trapped at the bar!

Beers and pong!

Oh hai it’s James!

Ben Bigeni & Ken Taylor battling it out live at Secret Wars.

This T-Shirt exhibit was crazy tight. Would work as a standalone exhibit anywhere in the world.

I’ll take that one, and that one… and that one and that one.

Kid Zoom got arty with it.

The OUTPOST PROJECT has to be the most massive street art project I’ve ever seen to date. My visit there yesterday left me gobsmacked (great to see our Govt. get behind something like this!).

Held at Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour more than 150 renowned artists have been let loose on the entire island. In sheds, on walls, fences, anything and everything was covered in art.

You have until the 11th to check it out. If you’ve got nothing to do right now I highly suggest you check it out (bring your mates). Entry is free, you just need to pay for your ferry ride (ferry rides are always fun right?!) and the island itself is amazing. What was a dockyard during WWII is now a barron industrial landscape. I spent half the day checking out the art, the other half just exploring the island!
