Nanami and I checked out the Picasso exhibition yesterday (it ends this week so we’ve left it late!). I’ve never been a massive Picasso fan, but I figure it’s an absolute privilege to be able to see so many of his original pieces all in the one place (and I’m still kicking myself for missing the Dali exhibit a few years ago) so I took a day off work to check it out.

Really really enjoyed it. 10 rooms with some amazing work from the 1900’s through to the 1970’s. It’s quite humbling, and mind blowing to be able to see someone’s life work displayed in front of you like that. Highly recommend it, go go go.

Both artists have drinks named after them, drinks are to be sold around Surry Hills bars over the next few months, pretty rad, right?

Artist Simon Lovelace owns Blank Space Gallery, he was in his man cave, tinkering with his bike… yeah! My kinda guy!

I managed to get invited to the media launch of the interactive Smirnoff Start Pure Gallery tonight. I’d checked it out earlier today as I was helping Nanami get her work to the gallery, but by launch time it was a completely different (rad!) set-up to what I’d seen earlier.

After 2 cocktails I was goneski’s so I hit the eject button before running the risk of not being able to drive home (Forum Battle tomorrow in Melbourne, road trip starts at 5am SHARP!).

The show officially launches tomorrow @ BLANK SPACE Gallery – Friday 2nd through to Thursday the 8th of March, 10am – 5pm 374 Crown Street, Surry Hills so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area!

All artists know, one of the hardest things is figuring out when to stop. IE: When a pice is finally “finished”.

Summer!

Soaked up some serious rays at Nielsen Park Beach on the Harbour last weekend. About time Sydney! Water was glorious and I’m well on the way to being the right shade of Indo brown again. :)

OMG…

OMG!

Nanami’s B’day was a few weeks ago now. I completely underestimated how long things take to get here from Amsterdam. I was starting to think that the B’day pressie I got for her was either lost in the mail (I was fretting!), or perhaps customs had pulled it up thinking: hmmm, Amsterdam hey?!

Last night I had to apologise to Nanami about the lateness of my pressie, and that I’d have to chase it up today, funny then that when I rocked up to Zen this morning I found the parcel on my desk! Strange how it often works out this way with items I buy online (ie: just as I complain about not receiving an item it shows up on the day, or soon after).

Last night I’d thrown Nana off course when she tried to guess what her pressie was going to be (always fun!) but it was a treat to watch her open it up today. She loves it! :) It’s a noir piece by Amsterdam artist Sit, giclée print #30 of 35 and it’s a lot bigger than I expected! Can’t wait to see it framed!
