Reachy!

Yesterday I spent my grey lazy Sunday shooting 2 girls from out of town. First up was 32 year old Mia who’s originally from Brisbane. Super bubbly girl, smart, louder than life and a total tom boy. We clicked right away, and ended up chatting for ages before shooting. Shooting was like hanging out too. A bit of Grand Theft Auto and just general dagging about. We went for sushi afterwards and had to cut it short for my 2nd shoot which was with young Jess from Canberra. Also super bubbly, innocent, wide eyed and hungry to discover more about herself and business too.

Both shoots were in less than ideal lighting conditions, but I loved that they were back at home, in my comfort zone, with music up and great conversations.

Had a lazy Sunday style shoot with piano teacher Stella Olivia yesterday. Stella reached out to me over Facebook, asking me about the time we met at Marquee, where I apparently said she was hot, and that I wanted to take photos of her but it never happened. Thing is. I’ve never been to Marquee! Haha! Awkward! How could I not shoot her after that?! Haha!

Faith invited me to shoot some behind the scenes shots for a video job he was shooting for Inappropriate Apparel. He’d hired Daniel Karjadi to be the 2nd video shooter and the client hired a studio and brought a few girls out to play too.

Was a long shoot, with a lot of people on set. I had fun going back to my roots of being the Behind The Scene’s Photographer for the day. I focussed on framing things a little more, but also took a few brand shots just for the fun of it. Today I shot with Carmen​, who’s been a friend for a long time.

I first met her through the JDMST forums. Back then she was always into taking silly selfies, and photos of herself with cars. It’s funny when you know of someone over so many years you see them go through all sorts of different hobbies, and paths in life. She became a crazy cat lady at some point (she donated cat toys which her cat didn’t play with to Mia haha!), and she also got into aquariums (I pretty much gave her my whole set-up when I shut my marine tank down before starting Zen Garage).

Quite a few years ago she got into pole dancing and now she’s teaching pole. I spent a little time with her in her studio doing warm ups, some pole dancing and warm downs. Check out the photoset here: http://www.justinfoxphoto.com/stories#/carmen-1/

Spent a couple of hours with this wild child just before my Easter Break. No pants are the best pants? Gotta love someone who’s comfortable in their birthday suit!

Yesterday I had an impromptu shoot with Tash, a gorgeous girl I’m meant to be shooting at the end of this month. She just happened to be staying at Lake Macquarie this Easter Break so we thought we’d try and get together to shoot.

Tash had a friend do her makeup, it was a little over the top for the chill Easter Break look I had in mind, add to that the harsh midday light with a bitey sun directly above us, no reflectors, no lens filters or hood… I was in for a challenge!!!

It turns out that Tash’s heavy makeup worked OK with the harsh light I had to deal with. I chose a particularly clean white jetty 3 down from our own so that the white paint from the jetty would reflect light back at Tash’s face. We also shot at a small park at the end of the street, and also at the Eleebana shared bicycle/walkway.

I’ve just finished uploading sets from all the photos I took with Cacia Zoo for babylikestopony. I’ve split the outfits up into different sets for now (video by Scott Mitchell Media to come and we’ll feature it all on Zen Garage later).

It’s been awesome fun hanging out with Cacia the past few weeks (she’s been staying at mine nearly the whole time). We’ve shot a lot, had such awesome bottomless conversations and demolished a whole box of red wine since. She’s such a free spirit and reminds me so much of College of Fine Arts days, how I miss hanging out with arty farts!
It’ll be sad to say goodbye to my new friend (she leaves this weekend).
