Great shop front but no signage makes it hard to spot when driving past (I’ve been past the shop so many times recently and never spotted it!).

Pastrami reuben with sauerkraut.

We went for both the Dr. Browns. The Celery drink was whack! Black Cherry was all sorts of Sarsaparilla like goodness.

The whole shop is themed so well.

Post shoot with Krysti I finally found Brooklyn Boy Bagels, who have opened up in the old school sleepy suburban suburb of Matraville. Owner Michael Shafran looks and sounds the part, with a thick American accent, he’s somehow managed to bring a bit of Brooklyn to Sydney, and I’m totally stoked about it!

The shop’s a little hard to spot from the street, but it’s decked out real nice with old world American memorabilia and Biggie Smalls, Robert De Niro (as the Taxi Driver) and Banksy-esque artwork on the walls.

Fish base this time!

Gyoza, some of the best I’ve had in recent memory.

Yebisu, and I love these glass cups!

Had to go back! This time I tried the fish base ramen, which was subtle and delicious!!! Not overly complex (which is how I like my ramen broth) but it was just so damn satisfying! Gyoza’s were just as awesome as the first time, and had me burping gyoza burps all day and night lol.

The guys start early in the morning. I usually rock up at around lunch time, the wait until 8pm when stuff finally comes out of the smoker is long and hard but it’s always SO WORTH IT!

Smoked goodness, every Sunday! The boys are constantly at it, refining their smoking techniques as well as the meat rub. This week we had drum sticks in the smoker which were unbelievable. Salmon too which blew minds!!! Pork was better than ever too.

Their new 2015 menu is out now. They’ve changed their bowls, which I was initially disappointed in, but then at the bottom there was this! Now that’s cool.

Nanami took me to this tiny little Japanese yakitori restaurant on Crown St. in Darlinghurst today. We weren’t there for the yakitori though, we were there for their ramen, and get this, they only make 30 bowls of it a day!

Loved the fitout inside, art painted direct onto the concrete walls, a large shared table made of plumbing pipes, wood and stone and a few low tables and stools. It’s instantly welcoming and VERY Japanese. I love it!

Chaco Bar are offering 2 different bowls of Ramen. We ordered both, and made sure to upgrade the shit out of our orders. Extra fat, extra char siu, dumplings and a side serve of gyoza too! One quick sample of both broths had us both in nomland. The gyoza were damn tasty too!

Highly recommend! GO GO GO!

But then, holy shit balls. OMFG that fucking beef rib! Too good. TOO GOOD!

Epic BBQ last night. The boys have upgraded their smoker and last night was it’s trial run. Everything was awesome but the Beef Rib was so next level, it’s not even funny. I dare say that the boys could serve up this beef rib and blow the socks off just about ANYONE who’s a fan of meat!

Juxtaposition! Chi and Co., a hip Asian restaurant with very ‘now’ branding and interior decor, but… in Canley Vale!

Mad catch ups with the old school crew the other night. Auto Salon magazine, IS Motor Racing, JDMyard, all the guys who inspired me to create JDMST back in the day. Time flies, but everyone still looks and acts the same. Lots of laughs as expected! Always great vibes when these guys are all together (which sadly is a real rarity these days).
