Field Trip is a new conference from Australian Infront and Jacky Winter. We’re pretty damn excited about this!!! The first one is taking place this April the 20th at ACMI in Melbourne. It’s not your regular run of the mill conference either: Think live action, taking a brief on stage. IE: No portfolio slide shows here, 100% process process process! Head on over to http://www.thefieldtrip.com.au/ for artist info, tickets, schedules and more!
PS: I’d really personally appreciate it if you could spread the news on this one. It’s been a long time coming, and with your help we’re hoping it’ll be a huge success. :)
My task.
Hard yakka.
Some mates of mine have just launched a new business: Airtasker. The concept is pretty simple:
Airtasker is a community marketplace where people can outsource everyday tasks and errands to friendly and reliable people.
I decided to give it a go last week. Functionally, the site itself is crazy dynamic (not to mention it looks nice and friendly too). It’s one thing to be able to think of an idea for a site, but another to actually be able to go ahead and develop a custom solution to suit your needs and that’s exactly what these guys have done.
I put up a simple task to get someone to move a load of bricks out the front of Zen Garage (they were ugly!), to the back of the complex. Someone bid on the job in no time, and he was over, in the rain, to move the bricks pronto!

My new uniform for the rest of the year (yep I love wearing my own T’s!). Now in the shop! Visit: http://zengarage.com.au/shop
Apple Store Bondi.
Love the trees.
The share tables made portfolio reviewing easy. Vibe was all-together different to the city store, much more relaxed.
Vince ‘the man’ Frost, surrounded by keen ears, in the zone!
Infront Presents Workshop went down at the Apple Store in Bondi Junction yesterday afternoon. Massive thanks to Apple, students in attendance and our portfolio reviewers: Vince Frost, Chris Doyle, Toby Pike, Pip Jamieson, Andrew Moffitt, Sam Adeloju and Jon Christensen for making it a great success. Photos are now up on our Facebook Page.
Mind = blown.
Much thanks to Luca for getting Niels Shoe Meulman to sign a copy of his book for me. Visit: http://www.calligraffiti.nl
Jon, Pip, Chris and Damien.
On the stage.
Our biggest crowd yet.
The Q&A session went on until night fell.
As usual we reserved a couple of tables, and had a bar tab running at Grasshopper for drinks and nibbles post event.
Last night saw our next instalment of Infront Presents at the Apple Store in Sydney – A Students Guide To Working In The Creative Industry. My INfront partner Damien moderated a panel discussion with Pip from The Loop, Jon from Tractor/ Mentally Friendly and Chris from Interbrand.
The chairs and panel discussion concept made for an awesome format. More relaxed, natural and fun than having speakers present a standing hour talk. We’re so glad Apple invited us back this year. More photos here. Keep an eye out for future Infront/Apple events on Australian INfront: http://www.australianinfront.com.au
School kids pose!
Dan’s fresh new Tatt (he has quite the collection!).
Atsuko, Nanami’s faithful sidekick. :)
I got to briefly meet Dan, who runs Kind of Gallery a few weeks ago at the Upside Down Type show. Last Saturday night I got to hang out with the guy. Not only does he run a gallery, he’s a skater and rider too so we had a lot in common. At the show he mentioned that they were going to get kicked out of their Oxford St. premises. That was the topic of the night, it’s all sad news and I wish them all the best with finding another venue.
Their final group show will be on this Wednesday night. It’s going to be a huge one. Check the Kind of Gallery site for more info.
Headed out Wednesday night to check out Neils ‘Shoe’ Meulman’s Upside Down Show at Kind Of Gallery. Unfortunately I’d forgotten to bring my memory card which rendered my camera useless! So annoyed. His work is amazing so if you’re in Sydney, go check it out. Thanks to Luca I got this photo of the great man. Visit: http://www.nielsshoemeulman.com
Part of the perks of running Sex in Art. I got this LELO product in the mail. It’s a classy him/her thing, interesting! The packaging is so quality that it feels like opening a Louis Vuitton product. I’m guessing I’m meant to review it… anyone want to try it out with me? (BAHAHA).
For more info, visit LELO.
