Golf MKV GTI Update

Spotted outside: Budi’s Autotechnik Tuning Honda Odyssey. I’m sure the drop is coming.

Spotted inside: This S2K gets more trackcore every time I see it.

Broken drivers side front CROSS coilover – end link tab had snapped clean!

New KW Clubsport coilovers vs old and broken CROSS coilovers.

I love camber :)

New SB brake rotors to replace cracked and noisy Brembo rotors.

All installed, need more camber and new tyres (Monday) and wheel alignment after that.

Race Fuel at Indy’s. I then dropped into IS Motor Racing to say G’day to Indy and a mate Dave.

Dave’s EG Civic (Paul’s old car). Old school Mugen rims and fresh Porsche GT3 Red paint.

Dave wanted Indy to install a set of DC2R pedals for him. Indy said fuck you, do it yourself. DIY! LOL so Dave got busy and I project managed (haha).

My driveway is pretty smooth and low, even so I scrape the front lip every time, not to mention one wheel goes up in the air like a dog cocking it’s leg to pee!

Car. is. always. dirty…

I also replaced the rear Green Stuff brake pads with Ferodos. Check them out, crazy crumble… never again!

VWGolf.net.au Schnitzel Night

David’s R32.

Big guy, big heart.

Stiff Pipe!

Howie’s Porker.

Anoop’s MKVI GTI.

My MKV GTI.

Oven Baked Organic Schnitzel, the (slightly) healthier option!

The tradition of meeting up on the 1st Wednesday night of every month with the Sydney VWGolf.net.au guys continues, tonight we ate at The Bavarian at EQ. Small turnout as the 1st of the month caught us all off guard, always good company though, small crew, or big!

Melbourne Trip – Day 2 – JDMST EOMM

Thanks to Kyne (a very generous guy who we hadn’t met before) Christina and I managed to get a lift to the JDMST meet out at Doncaster. Turns out it’s the biggest Melbourne JDMST meet I’ve attended so far.

Melbourne guys have a great sense of humor which came through in all the decals I spotted on various cars.

Micra on fat meshies.

I see this decal all the time on Lancers in Sydney. I met Irving, the guy who owns this car (nice guy!), it turns out he also runs the Victorian chapter of Club CJ

Carey kindly offered us a lift back to the city for drinks and a bite to eat at the Little Creatures brewery (always great). He’s just launched his Tumblr site, it’s awesome so be sure to check it out: http://onepointeight.tumblr.com

The bill, very cute.

On the way back to the hotel Christina got busy on this water fountain (out the front of the Westin) with some Autumn leaves.

You can view many more pics here.

VW Nationals 2011

I’d love to put some modern wheels on this thing, so so nice.

This MKI Golf tickled my fancy.

This year Christina and I decided to just rock up and check the show out instead of entering our cars. I have to say, we’re glad we did! Car parking was nice and easy, we got to catch up with some old faces (albeit briefly as we turned up a little late) and check out all the great cars but not have to be tied down to being there from early until end of show.

Many more pics can be found here.

JDMST EOMM / EVO NATS

I brought my 80’s Kuwahara along for kicks.

Babs’ Hako took out best of show runner up.

One category I had to judge was “Best Hellaflush”… but Hellaflush is an American brand! I sat there, felt embarrassed about it for a bit, then I kicked myself in the bum and thought why the hell not, sun’s out, let’s have some fun. This is the car I chose for the win.

I also had to judge “best stance” which I gave to Shane. You can’t argue his Supra has a menacing stance (even in broad daylight!), best of all, it’s stance is dictated by function.

EVO 9 wagon took me by surprise. It also won a runner up prize for best EVO.

Babs claiming his prize.

A very pregnant Nat (Miss-R) took 3rd best overall car of the day.

Perfect weather, EVO guys were ripping it up on the circuit and skid pan (very impressive!), Show and Shine prizes went down a treat and best of all there was a great social vibe all morning and afternoon.

Judging the “Show and Shine” with George from Mothers was a hard job. George has judged many an event (including Sema!), and being in the care care industry he had a thing for perfect paint. I’ve got little idea about good or bad paint, but George didn’t have much of an idea about JDM car culture so we met in the middle.

There were a billion photographers out and about today so I’m sure there will be many more pics of the cars on show. I’ve started a photo thread on JDMST. Click here to keep an eye on it as photographers get busy uploading their images.

Cars made in the year you were born

1975 260Z 2+2

It’s been one of my aims for some time now to find a car that was made in the year I was born. The project would entail a lot of research, time, space, blood, sweat and tears…all that stuff that makes me feel alive!

Out of curiosity I’ve started up a thread on JDMST to see what cars that other people, of different ages, would choose from the year they were born. Click here to enter the discussion

Indy vs. Justin

Why the hell am I driving a Golf for?! Always have loved the R34 GT-R, still very much do.

After seeing Jing I was drunk on reflections. It’s events like these that make you wake up, re-think and re-look at your life. I needed a cigarette or two so I dropped in to see my good mate/mechanic Indy who’s workshop is pretty much a stone throw from the hospital. Can’t say the smoke made me feel any better, but it was good to catch up with Indy in any case as it’s been a very long time.

VWGolf.net.au Schnitzel Night

German lemonade.

My German beer of choice.

Der Jaeger, couldn’t help myself.

Feast to the left of me.

Feast to my right.

Back at the carpark I got to have a blat on a real scooter. Anoop’s scooter has 4 times the power of my Zoomer (200cc) and damn it showed, so grunty! I was crazy impressed ahaha.

On the 1st Wednesday of every month VWGolf.net.au has an open dinner catchup. The venue’s always up for revue and last night we hit Essen in Broadway. As good as Una’s? The venue looks nice, the seating was cozy, the food looked great but I still give it to Una’s!
