VWGolf.net.au Ribs Night

Hurricanes Bondi Beach.

Wow Cow in Dalringhurst for dessert.

VWGolf.net.au monthly Schnitzel nights are still going strong (1st Wednesday of every month). Last night we hit Hurricanes in Bondi Beach to have ribs for a change. It’s always have to tell which I like better, Hurricanes, or Kelly’s. When I’m at Kelly’s I think Kelly’s are better, and last night I thought Hu8rricanes was better!

VWGolf.net.au Go Kart Day

8.30AM crazy fog.

The boys.

Most likely never going!

Suiting up.

Not only was it foggy, but it was freezing cold during the driver briefing, luckily though the sun came up and it ended up being the perfect day.

We hired the 13HP (faster) corporate karts.

I thought the stars had aligned when I got kart number 32 (R32 GT-R!), but I knew beating Aaron was going to be hard (he’s a pro race car driver!).

The Aarons. Note: Fast guy is in his own suit.

We had 13 guys out on the track, not too many drivers, just right.

After a warm up session and 4 hardcore races the final 15 lap grand prix decider ended up like this.

2nd place for me, was never going to come first as Aaron was just too good. He also got the fastest lap time of the day, beating my time by just .01 of a second. Soooooooooo frustrating!

Beers and lunch at the Royal Cricketers Arms, apparently one of Australia’s oldest pubs (1880).

Cars Move Us update

Who didn’t have a Lamborghini Countach poster on their wall as a kid? (Dad bought me one with a naked babe on the bonnet! Daaaad!).

Cars Move Us is doing really good 3 days in.

I initially registered the domain name in 2008, never used it (Narada and I almost did, we had dreams of making it an amazing blog which superstar drivers contributed to) and let it lapse. I ended up turning it into Bikes Move Us.

The other day I was hunting down domain names for the space (so hard to find a name for it!). I punched in ‘Cars Move Us’ and it was available so I bought it (again). And this time I got going on it right away rather than let it fizzle out.

The concept is a lot simpler this time around. It’s basically inspired by the “car pron & cool shiat” folder on my desktop which I use to store images I love and find, usually on the net.

I’ve noticed a lot of images in the car pron thread on various forums have broken (due to people hot linking an image which is not online anymore). It’s a real shame that these images are lost, perhaps forever in some cases so I’m making an effort to re-upload them all onto the Cars Move Us server (clicking on an image loads in the full sized image where possible).

We’ve got quite a few contributors on there at the moment, all local for now but that will change soon (I’m envisioning 20+ international contributors in future). All posts are made anonymously, so the contributing team as a whole takes the credit. No posts are dated either (though the site will be updated daily) as the content we’re posting is arguably timeless.

My GT-R, it fucking rocks

R32 GT-R x 2 + Renault Clio Sport.

Caught up with a couple of car buddies last night. Chris, once an enemy, now a mate (way better way around than once a mate, now an enemy!) who also has an R32 GT-R, and Stewart who currently drives a new Renault Clio Sport.

I took the GT-R out. Quiet streets and cold air = so much win. I love this car. Every time I drive it I realise this.

Chris let me drive his R32 too. It’s nowhere near as clean as my car, but it was an awesome experience to drive another R32 (also tuned by Hitman in Penrith). Completely different to mine in engine tone, exhaust note, yet the same. Felt a little more responsive down low which makes me miss my old tune. He had a twin plate clutch which I didn’t like (I’m so glad I got rid of mine!) and a funky diff which was new to me. His steering wheel felt great and seats were comfy (I think they were R34 GT-R seats) in comparison to my bucket seats.

On topic. Stewart just came back from what looked to be an epic driving trip to Tasmania. He sent me a link to photos from his trip. Well worth the look. Click here for the photos, prepare to be gobsmacked.
