Raijin Fujin – Japan Trip Day #6

Day 6 saw us get right into our final bit of shopping for Raijin Fujin in and around Denden Town.

I spotted this Voltes V robot I have in my lounge room (which I’ve owned since I was a kid) but selling brand new in a box. Wait till you see the price…

$13,000 AUD!

I own this Gatchaman toy too at home, check the price!!!!!

Transformer cars were more rare than we thought here in Japan.

I then pretty much found die-cast heaven. No words necessary and enjoy the following photos. Let’s just say I wanted the lot, but couldn’t even afford to justify buying one!

Day 6 was another huge day of shopping with Raijin Fujin. The guys did well today and have bust weight capacity pretty much! With shopping done the guys treated me to a trip to HKS Kansai, just up the road from their home. More in the next post!

Raijin Fujin – Japan Trip Day #3

Gibson San gave me this awesome owners catalog which features GT-R’s from all generations. He also gave Bobby and the kids the R35 model he got when he bought his car from the dealership!!!

The grass is greener on the other side. The river separates the 2 towns, one side looks after their town, the other doesn’t!

Turns out Masa has another warehouse that’s not being used and he’s offered it to me for ZEN GARAGE… LOL! The mind boggles.

Save me.

Turns out the local Matsuri was on! So cool to see the whole community come together (so many kids!) and all the restaurants in the area running food stalls.

66 Base, Bobby’s mates burger shop makes killer American style burgers.

Then we spotted Tousou again!

Bobby gets stares all day long, it’s even better when he yells something out in Japanese, the reactions are gold!

We then checked out the 66 Base burger shop. Such a nice fitout!!!

Hide-San is the owner, he travels to the US a lot and did the whole shop fitout himself too.

Day #3 had us waking up foggy after a huge night! The guys had planned for me to meet a family of GT-R owners at 9am, and man what a great experience it was! Gibson-San is the boss man in his 35, and soon after his 2 sons rocked up, one in an immaculate 34 V-Spec II and another in a 33. Once Gibson-San approved of me he called his wife down to give me an owners catalog, so cool!

We rested up most of the day in prep for a huge night in Osaka.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

“ZEN” Wheels.

To all of those on my friends list sending me videos of Sergio in Ozzy Tyres videos these past weeks: Please stop. I’m not sure exactly what it is you guys were trying to get out of me, a LOL? Honest truth is I don’t find it funny.

One of the main reasons as to why Sergio left ZEN was because we weren’t making money. To this date I am not paying myself a salary from ZEN, and that’s exactly what Sergio needed at the time.

I’d assume Sergio has what he wants/needs now at Ozzy Tyres. I’m not sure what the thinking was with using our name and logo for one of their new wheel designs (pictured), but if some sort of response is what he/they wanted well this is it.

No hate, just regret. Wish you all the best Sergio.

Hangs with Nana

Hangs with Nanami today! This is what she’s working on at the moment.

Nana got gifted this gear from Sony Australia (jealous!!!!!).

LAAAAMMMEEENNN!!!! Chaco Bar. OMFG I so needed this! I tried the Yuzu Scallop, was tangy and not at all what I was expecting.

Nana went for the Fish Salt, which is the pick on the menu for sure. Broth was so complex!

Ariel is back on Oxford St! Sadly nowhere near as amazing as the old store though.

Then we checked out this sweet little Warhol exhibit at the AGNSW which showcased Andy’s design work (he was a designer before a famous artist).

Roy de Maistre. My mate in high school studied this piece for his HSC. Always so amazing to see it in real life after seeing it only 5cm large in an art book in high school.

This digital wave rocked!

The Wheel Man

I lose sleep when I gutter a rim. My mum does too!!!

Thanks to The Wheel Man for repairing my mums guttered wheels on her A250. These wheels were a little harder to touch up than usual, but then again so were bronze Japanese wheels in the past. These guys come to you (mobile wheel repair). Great job as always!

Goodbye Watanabes

Finally SOLD! Didn’t mind that it took a few years… always thought they’d go on another NA8 one day (or even Ved’s MK1 Golf!). Needed the money though, Mia pee’d in my bed whilst I was gone, that’s how upset she was!!! I’ve had to buy a new mattress, really wanted a Tempur, but nowhere near enough funds right now to justify the cost. I ended up with a pretty interesting choice, might blog about it after a few more sleeps.

Day 11: Hong Kong

Hung out with young car obsessed 14yr old Anthony today. We dropped past Reinart Design unannounced, which is how we like to do things at Zen. IE: We don’t like workshops ‘preparing’ for our visits! #keepitreal !!! Justin at Reinart was super chill, he even moved this beauty into the light for me to shoot. Dead set legend!

Also caught up with Jim, who answered a callout I put up on Facebook the other day. Jim moved from Sydney to HK 10 years ago, how time flies. He runs an automotive workshop here in HK and he gave me an all access pass to shoot whatever I liked, over all 4 floors! I’ll be writing up a feature on Zen Garage soon!
