John and Simon scored this S14 for their LA stay. I was quick to grab a ride just for the experience!

greaser_s14
Yeah roads are pretty damn fucked up in LA!!!

shakeshack_burger
And back to Shake Shack to try their normal ShackBurger and awwwww yeah, super dirty, tasty, the complete opposite to In-N-Out’s much cleaner burger, but I love it!

Last day in the US, we checked out the Petersen Automotive Museum, just 20 minutes drive from our hotel. On show was ‘The Art of Bugatti’, but we went straight for the vault tour!

No photos allowed in the Vault Tour, such a shame as there were some pretty amazing cars underground, the one-of-one 1925/34 ‘Round Door’ Rolls, a Mercedes used by Sadam Hussein and much more.

Well worth checking out if you have a few hours to burn. I couldn’t get my eyes off the McLaren F1, even going back to level 2 to check it out twice.

Vegas Trip: Day #7 – LA

goodmorning
Just happened to get the Good Morning carpet in the lift this morning.

w_am
Really quite liking the W Hotel we’re staying at on Hollywood Boulevard (bed was super comfy too, had a great sleep).

fog2
I messaged John Lor of Greaser, he was in Santa Monica and said that the sun was up and that it was beautiful there so a few of us jumped a maxi uber and braved the LA traffic (which apparently never eases up) to get there. Once we got there we realised the entire beach was covered in a super thick fog!!!

fog
Made for this pretty gnarly photo.

run
We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

bubbagump
The shrimp (pictured here) was soooo good. Rest of our meals were awesome too, service even better (the tipping system here really seems to work in regards to service, something Sydney could perhaps better from?).

santamonica
We did a little shopping in the outdoor mall a few streets back from the water, and noticed the fog subsiding so we headed back to the pier to watch the sun go down.

pacificpark
First thing that came to mind was Grand Theft Auto! Man that game re-created Santa Monica SO well!!!

shackmeister
Dinner at Shake Shack!

shakeshack
100% went for the wrong burger. Instead of going for a classic (which I usually do when visiting new burger joints) I went for the SmokeShack (bacon) and it came loaded with hot peppers which had me sweating (I’m allergic to chilli!).

zime
The OG! Zi and I.

meantonio
Mr Antonio Alvendia of Motormavens, who lives in North Hollywood, dropped past the hotel for a few drinks, we ended up cruising to Koreatown for a 3am feed too. Massive catchups, so good!

Woke up fresh (no hangover thank God!), hit Starbucks next door and a few of us made the call to check out Santa Monica. Once we got there we realised there was a crazy fog covering the entire boulevard! The weather was strangely cool too, but that didn’t stop locals from swimming at the beach. We had a huge feast at Bubba Gump, which was way better than I remembered Bubba Gump to be, and spent the rest of the day just chilling out with John and Simon from Greaser in Sydney.

My buddy Ravi from V2lab Florida is kicking off a new label: Sorcery. He’s supplied me with a few onesies (SO HOT!) to shoot on local girls when I get home, should be fun!

Vegas Trip: Day #6 – Hoover Dam & Death Valley

hertz
Hertz so good.

adamdriver
Adam’s the driver of the JDMyard WTAC EG Civic, he’s been doing ALL of the driving on this trip too (champ!).

hirecar
Piss Stop. Our shitty rental for the day. It had a pretty bad wheel vibration in the back unless we did at least 100 miles/hr lol.

Then we had In-N-Out Burger again. 100% love the burger, still not sure about their chips. Super impressed that they make them in-house, but they’re just a little too tasteless and clean for my liking.

bar_deathvalley
We were so thirsty after the lookout. The general store was shut for stock count, the fuel station’s drink machine was bust but we found this bar, it was pretty freaky lol so we skulled our drinks and got outta there pretty fast.

kimchi
It was late by the time we got back, we were hungry to we had Korean BBQ close by to the Wynn.

hite
Hite, it’s my fave Korean beer. SUPER CRISPY. If you like Asahi, you’ll like Hite!

Super chill day today. We had planned to get to The Grand Canyon, but on realising just how far away it was (and a few of us couldn’t make it back that late due to a dinner meeting) we had to drop the idea, so we checked out Hoover Dam and Death Valley instead. SO glad we did this today, was great to be out there in the middle of nowhere!

iPhone 7 Bokeh

antoniooooo
Check out this shot, which was taken with Antonio’s iPhone 7 in “portrait mode”. I’m impressed!

PS: Follow Antonio: @antoniosureshot

PPS: My story is getting out there LOL! I ran into a guy I had never met today at SEMA, we got chatting, then he said he’d heard about me getting drugged and waking up with a T-Shirt around my waist HAHA!

Vegas Trip: Day #5 – SEMA

pallazo_mall
This was shot INDOORS!

sky
We headed next door to the Palazzo for breakfast this morning, they’ve re-created Venice, complete with wet look tiles, a gorgeous painted sky on the ceiling and real Gondolas!

maier
Then we headed in to SEMA again.

datto

ravi_v2lab
I spent this day socialising mostly. This is Ravi from V2LAB who I’ve been in contact with over the net for years now. So great to finally meet him, and his girl Nalanie, who are such an amazing power couple! Was awesome to watch them work, capturing both video and stills throughout the day.

fd2
Had to revisit this FD.

zengarage_justin_antonio
I then finally caught up with Antonio Logan, who’s been our USA Zen Garage contributor since early 2015. The guy is just SO Zen. I love his vibe. He’s motivated and super positive (despite missing his flight, and having his luggage go missing too!!!). Really looking forward to working with Antonio going forwards.

justin_zengarage_antonio_motormavens
My man! I then caught up with another Antonio (!). Antonio Alvendia from MotorMavens, who I first met in Sweden for Need for Speed last year. We’ve not seen each other since but it feels like yesterday. LOVE THIS GUY!

strippercards
As we were leaving SEMA a bunch of promoters on the street were handing out strip club flyers. Antonio was quick to grab some, turns out a little trick he likes to do when he hands out business cards to prospective clients is to “accidentally” spill out titty flyers as he’s grabbing a card out of his wallet!

crew
Crew!

We woke up a little earlier this morning and ate brekkie at the Palazzo next door, which has a fantastic, and quite trippy painted ceiling. SEMA was different for me today too. MUCH more social as I spent the day catching up with friends I’ve met over the net.

Being done with the big nights, we’ve booked a car to head to the Hoover Dam tomorrow, then on to The Grand Canyon. Should be a refreshing break from all the booze!

Battlefield 1

bf1

I got to briefly (it’s always super brief these days sadly!) catch up with Charles Kha (formerly Autosalon Magazine Editor, Editor of SpeedHunters and now VP at EA Games). Although brief, it’s always great. We parted ways after a few drinks and ciggies, but then Charles buzzed me a little bit after to ask for my hotel room number as he’d forgot to give me something! Vegas Trip: Day #4 – SEMA

toyo_treadpass
Toyo Treadpass is killer. I ran into Dino from Speedhunters just as I got here, and he suggested it was the best part of the whole show (I agree!). No need for words, enjoy the diversity and quality of cars in my Toyo Tires Treadpass coverage below.

haltech
Haltech! At the end of the day I finally got around to the main hall, spotted fellow Aussies hard at work (good one guys your stand was busy as!). Will return tomorrow for much much more!

Yup. SEMA is awesome! It’s HUGE, and there’s so much to see, even more to miss if you don’t take your time. Good thing then that I have a few days left to go!

I’ve been in absolute awe at how many cars on show are on Toyo tyres. It’s mind boggling, especially since Toyo are a Japanese tyre, and SO many American muscle cars are on them, complete with Toyo tyre stickers too! Everyone’s busy at the show but I got a little chat in with Stan Chen, the senior manager of Toyo Tires USA, as well as Dionne Mascunana, who creates a lot of awesome imagery for Toyo USA (check his Instagram here).

I’ve also noted a real track focus at the show. PLENTY of stripped out race cars (which I love!). I’ll be returning tomorrow for more so sit tight for more photos then!
