Raijin Fujin – Japan Trip Day #3
Gibson San gave me this awesome owners catalog which features GT-R’s from all generations. He also gave Bobby and the kids the R35 model he got when he bought his car from the dealership!!!
The grass is greener on the other side. The river separates the 2 towns, one side looks after their town, the other doesn’t!
Turns out Masa has another warehouse that’s not being used and he’s offered it to me for ZEN GARAGE… LOL! The mind boggles.
Turns out the local Matsuri was on! So cool to see the whole community come together (so many kids!) and all the restaurants in the area running food stalls.
66 Base, Bobby’s mates burger shop makes killer American style burgers.
Dig It crew supplying the booze.
Bobby gets stares all day long, it’s even better when he yells something out in Japanese, the reactions are gold!
We then checked out the 66 Base burger shop. Such a nice fitout!!!
Hide-San is the owner, he travels to the US a lot and did the whole shop fitout himself too.
Day #3 had us waking up foggy after a huge night! The guys had planned for me to meet a family of GT-R owners at 9am, and man what a great experience it was! Gibson-San is the boss man in his 35, and soon after his 2 sons rocked up, one in an immaculate 34 V-Spec II and another in a 33. Once Gibson-San approved of me he called his wife down to give me an owners catalog, so cool!
We rested up most of the day in prep for a huge night in Osaka.

Raijin Fujin – Japan Trip Day #2
This morning Bobby and I went for a brisk walk up to Mimuro Hill to check out a temple at the top.
Bamboo surrounds the entire area pretty much.
Inside one of the temple rooms.
I can see my GT-R in the driveway for sure!
This bridge is sooo narrow, it’s amaze! Will shoot video of it ASAP!
Last night we met a guy who’s in a metal band and he gave us his CD, we’ve had is as backdrop in the BB and it’s been perfect!
Then we visited Masa’s factory where Bobby used to work. Check out his site here.
Masa makes Konnyaku in many interesting shapes and forms.
Some of the machines Bobby used to operate.
Need this sticker! Lonely driver for life!
Naomi got her hair done at Verve, her family hairdresser of choice when she’s back home.
Then we had an awesome lunch with 3 ladies that used to learn English from Bobby years ago.
3 course meal for $20?! Awesome!
The guys had to renew their rego on the BB so we dropped into their local mechanic Tsuji Car.
Then we spotted this thing! A clean Autozam AZ-1 in for rego.
I had a go at the skill tester.
I won! Beginners luck! I got to pick a prize!
Bobby won this card from a Pokemon game. I’m learning a little bit more about the whole Pokemon culture hanging out with these guys. Definitely not my thing but I’m beginning to get it.
It’s stinking hot in Japan right now and me being the loose fuck I am I had no idea it was going to be this hot so I packed winter stuff (lol). I had to buy some shorts!
Back at the pad and hanging out with Bobby’s mate, and nature man Hyouma!
Then the doorbell rang, and kept on ringing as a few deliveries were made.
Box of goodies from the official Pokemon Store.
We then had dinner with the fam at a local spot you’d never find unless someone took you there.
Smoking at the dinner table? Sick!
Horse! I’ve always wanted to try it and have been denied in the past. It tasted like bacon and has the texture and toughness of kangaroo.
Then OMFG I had whale. It was the fishiest fish I’ve had in forever.

Raijin Fujin – Japan Trip Day #1
The overnight flight made it feel super fast. I teleported, pretty much!
I sat next to this babe on the trip. Rinna was mad conversation! We downed 4 little bottles of wine (before I KO’ed!). Be sure to check out what she does, it’s all pretty cool.
Nintendo lifts at Kansai Airport.
A short train ride and we were at our destination of Nara, a lovely peaceful spot surrounded by mountains and rice fields.
First spot! Not sure I like the gutter parking though!
Naomi’s Mum stocked the fridge up nice!!!
Naomi’s BB (our ride!). We were off to a local store to check out some toys.
Supreme spotted at a seconds store.
Bobby then showed me his local touge!
Man it didn’t disappoint! A car with well sorted sussy would be amazing here!
Bobby then took me to a little MX-5 only shop called 4 Speed Club which had a whole lot of Moty’s cars.
Bonnet bulge suggests forced induction, love the TE37SV’s too.
Wilwood brakes, vented bonnet, nice.
Easy unloading back at Bobby and Naomi’s beautiful home in Naru.
Later that afternoon we picked up Bobby’s old mate Masa from this restaurant in town.
Masa, posing next to his ow n product which he grows and sells in Japan (and soon all over the world!).

RAIJIN FUJIN
I’ve been having a blast working on RAIJIN FUJIN, an upcoming Japanese hobby shop. It’s awesome how shit comes together when you’re having fun! 100+ followers on the Instagram account already, and plenty of interest in general.
I’m super psyched to be travelling to Japan with these guys next week to help them buy goods for the store. It’s honestly the dream job!!! I get flown to Japan to go toy shopping!!!!
I have a pretty good idea what toys to bring over, but if anyone’s after anything specific let me know. Anything from figurines, car hobby kits, cosplay, sweets and snacks etc.
PS. I’ll be contributing to their Instagram account along side the 2 Japanese kids who will one day run the store, and of-course the shop owner too (their Dad!). Please follow: https://www.instagram.com/raijinfujinau/

2017 WTAC T-Shirt
GOOD NEWS!
This World Time Attack Challenge logotype I designed a little while back has been approved! It’s legit going to be one of the WTAC T-Shirts available this year at the show!
PS: I’ve been tasked with putting together a team of Zen Babes to wear these new T’s at WTAC this year, so girls if you’re free October 13-14 let me know (paid gig of-course!).
PPS: Massive massive props to Ian Baker and team for taking a risk on me. I truly appreciate the opportunity. I understand in this day and age it’s nearly impossible to do shit for the love without compromise. Leaving the location, dates, sponsor logos, checkered flags and cars off this T-Shirt design was never going to be easy, but hey some shit is worth fighting for!!!

RAIJIN FUJIN
Logo mockups for RAIJIN FUJIN. I’ve taken inspiration from Japanese Family Crests, and have pretty much designed a family crest for my client’s kids Raijin/God of Lightning and Fujin/God of Wind.
My client surprised me with a ticket to Japan NEXT WEEK! I’ll be flying with these guys to buy stock for the new shop! More on that later!

Work
Working on logos for a couple of cool jobs as of this week. One is for Dino Dalle Carbonare of Speedhunters who has a new YouTube channel that needs branding (check: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEAMJR1e79rKTjoMuRWuMwg/videos), the other is for a new toy shop opening up soon in Kensington Sydney which will focus on Japanese stuff. It’s going to be called RAIJIN FUJIN (God of Lightning and God of Wind), both names connected to the 2 cool half Jappo kids of the soon to be store owner (so rad!).
Going to be hard to avoid not using glasses in Dino’s design. RAIJIN FUJIN is imagery rich. There’s a well used symbol for Raijin, but none for Fujin which sets me back a little, but incorporating wind/lightning in the logo should be the go!
