Love your old stuff better than your new stuff

My re-issue Hawk deck finally came. It’s nice, but nowhere near as nice as Rob’s original.

LifeProof iPhone 5 Case

Bought this hardcore LifeProof water and shock proof case for my new phone. It’s pretty bulky, but light and the fit is amazing. I’ve noticed the sound is a bit muffled now though… hope I don’t find too many drawbacks (or I’ll just have top go naked again).

Business Cards – The Distillery

The Distillery on Crown St. Well worth a visit even if you’re not getting anything printed! It’s like a museum!

Adam was a super friendly and helpful staffer.

Lots of antique stuff to gawk at, these guys are the real deal.

Presses. They look damn dangerous to operate!

My little doggy bag of goodness!!!

My new cards. They’re so thick I can only fit 2 in my card holder.

Letterpressing – when you absolutely, positively have to be boss. Not cheap (my cards are worth a few dollars each card) but so worth it. Visit: http://www.the-distillery.com.au

New Art Prints

SIT.

3 new framed pieces on my other wall: a small Shohei Otomo, James Jean and a massive SIT.

Shohei Otomo detail (yes that’s a dildo with an eye).

AGNSW + MCA

Nude body projections onto a white sculpture of a body, the footage of the projected body moves a little making for a pretty realistic (and freaky) effect.

Dead body was the intro to a very dark installation that you had to walk through (so dark there was a security guard with a torch in case you needed help). Best thing at the AGNSW for sure, quite hardcore actually.

Water Lilies @ Botanical Gardens. They had Australian rainbow fish in this little pond, impressive!

We then headed to the MCA. That’s a massive reflecting sculpture by Anish Kapoor out the front.

Crazy massive wax sculpture by Anish Kapoor which changes over time. The massive block melts the wax and takes an hour to rotate once.

Interesting bubble sculpture on entrance to the 3rd floor of Anish Kapoor’s exhibition.

Loved this one. Wish I could buy it for my wall.

Lots of upside down action.

Really loved this piece. Can’t explain it, best to go have a look yourself.

Dust sculptures were interesting.

This mirror was amazing. When you stood in front of it it made you feel like you were in a white room/vacuum. It even altered your voice.

More mirror fun.

This thing was massive, and made of steel. Like a rocket ship from another planet… loved it. It connects to another sculpture in another room too, super trippy.

Opera Bar – crunchy base prosciutto pizza, cold beer and a billion dollar view.

I have Mondays off, usually I tend to work on all the other stuff I run outside of Zen, but today I decided to treat myself to a visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art.

I asked Lilian (Lilz) if she’d spend the day with me. I bumped into her randomly on the street a year or so ago, before then I hadn’t seen her since early days of JDMST (she was a car girl back in the day!) but recently we’ve been in contact over facebook. I had no idea if she’d be into art, or not, but she loved it and we had an awesome big day out.

The dead man at the AGNSW. Go check it out, there’s a door next to him, it’s DARK in there and quite creepy, a lot like a remake of a serial killers den… so dark we had to use our phones for light to guide us out. Super immersive, well worth checking!

Anish Kapoor at the MCA was awesome. His sculptures are interactive and diverse. Well worth the $20 entry.
