Stripping the Zoomer

Standard plastic footwell had to go.

When I ride I place my heels at the edges of this plastic piece (circled) in an attempt to stretch myself out over the bike.

Strip it!

I had to remove the fuel tank to get to the plastic bits at the bottom which I also removed.

I’ll be getting some sort of brace + foot pegs soon. The fuel tank itself could either do with a polish/clean-up or some sort of cover (there’s lots to choose from).

Can’t really afford mods right now so the next best thing is to just start ripping useless shit off that I’m going to replace at a later date in any case (LOL). Due to the lower seat rail the standard bars become very high and riding the Zoomer as is feels a little cramped, the bars sweep back a lot too which really doesn’t help (will be addressed in future). In an attempt to stretch myself out over the bike I’ve found that I ride with the heels of my feet at the very edges of the plastic footwell so I’m planning to install some BMX style footpegs at the front which will do the trick nicely.

NOS Campagnolo

I’ve decided to really finish off the Paino with period correct parts, and in order to do that I’ve got to spend time on eBay hunting down New Old Stock (NOS) which is not only rare, but usually quite pricey too. Found these lovely NOS toe clips. So so special, they sure don’t make stuff like they used to!

We’re gonna be on TV!

Loved this thing, there’s an SLR camera buried under all that.

Suga getting ready for her interview with Herman (left) and Andy the camera man right.

A discussion with a few people many months ago became a reality yesterday when Herman and Andy came over to shoot Christina and I for a TV series which will air on Discovery Channel in the near future.

Christina was pretty nervous but she did really well in her interview and I wasn’t so much nervous, but I was far from sharp and I think I failed to answer questions as I was too busy talking shit. HAHA. The interview questions were about our career choices, what our working life is like and also about the car communities we run as a couple. Next week we’ll finish off the filming of both our cars.

Yulli’s

Sunday night’s got a different vibe. I dig it. It’s not desperate like a Friday or Saturday night, its a lot more chilled out, people out are friendlier too. We smashed a few wines at the Clock (half price wines on Sunday night!) and we had dinner across the road at Yulli’s, which was hands down the naughtiest vegetarian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Their Eggplant Involtini dish was the star of the show, with the Wicked Elf Witbier coming a very close 2nd. I’m pretty sure I’ll be craving it again soon!

Zi’s SR400

Zi’s new 2007 SR400.

New seat, blinkers and tail light.

Zi had the idea to come around with his cat today to play with Mia. As a previous dog owner (and first time cat owner) I’m not sure he gets that cats are pretty different to dogs. I suggested it wasn’t such a crash hot idea and that instead we should just go to Deus for lunch. Instead of driving over he rode over on his new SR400. He only bought it yesterday and already he’s replaced the chunky and ugly stock seat with a much sleeker and lower seat. He’s ripped the battery covers off and also replaced front and rear blinkers and rear tail light too (modifiers will be modifiers!). Take note of the first picture, with a few subtle changes this bike will look crash hot in no time.

PS: News just in – this bike’s previous owner was Michelle, the personal trainer from Australia’s Bigger Loser show!

Hey Charger

Spotted in Bondi. What a burnout monster. Someone had left a note on it with contact details in case the owner would ever consider selling.

Ichiban Boshi

Hata bin ramune – this drink is super cool. You get a tool with it to open the bottle which drops a glass ball into the top part of the bottle and causes the entire drink to fizz up. Lolly water at it’s best!

Karaage Cheese Curry. So so naughty.

Tantan Tsukemen. So good.

Suga and I have been craving a Japanese curry for a while now, yesterday we dropped into our fave ramen house Ichiban Boshi in Bondi Junction for a hit. Forget the one in the city (same floor as Kinokuniya), that one’s crap. Bondi is where it’s at!

Thai Banyan Tree

Rental car goodness.

Sean.

That’s Michael, picture doesn’t show it but he’s a giant!

‘Rolling’ Sav. Blanc. My kinda wine!

Had a meeting with Sean and Rob from go2space the other night. Super chilled out dudes who are looking after media placement on my car forums. They invited myself and Michael who owns and runs Ozmazda.com for dinner at Thai Banyan Tree in Coogee Beach. I can’t say I ever get too excited about going to a new Thai restaurant but Sean talked this one up and too right it was awesome. It’s a tiny restaurant, tight inside (so tight that when Rob accidentally knocked over our table candle the hot wax flew onto someone else’s back!). The open front facade makes it feel a little like you’re actually eating on the streets of Thailand too, kinda.
