2010 Ducati Hypermotard 796

Argh faaaaaark I want one.

Super motos are a bit of a trend right now (basically motorcross bikes with slicks). They make a lot of sense to me, much like riding a mountain bike on the streets rather than road bike. Mountain bikes are tougher, can jump up and off gutters, handle the bad roads better, brake better, they are less prone to punctures and you sit higher so your vision is better. They’re more confortable too.

I’ve still got my motorbike license. I’ve owned a couple of bikes in the past (a Yamaha Virago and also a lvoely SRV250) and I’m always tempted to get back on a bike but logic has always prevailed. Today Stevey sent me this link and just like that I’m tempted once more.

Weekend update

On Friday Christina’s sister Jess went into Hospital to get surgery on her back. She’s had a pinched nerve jammed between her spinal discs which over the past year or so has caused her much pain and forced her to develop very nasty posture.

The operation seems to have gone really well. She was in good spirits straight out of the operating room and for the next few days too (I suspect the drugs they’ve pumped her up on has something to do with her constant giggling).

jessmater
Jess, high as a kite.

jessdrip
I hate needles.

tiger
Month of the Tiger.

The weekend was spent visiting and hanging out at the Hospital with Jess (as well as getting her home on Sunday), buying Christmas pressies for the family (amazingly we nailed a pressie for everyone we wanted to buy gifts for!) as well as a bit of furniture for the house:

Suga and I also crammed a movie in there, we watched 2012 at the Entertainment Quarter. What a shit film.

garlicprawns
Always have wanted to sit down and try the garlic prawns at the Entertainment Quarter’s food markets. Finally have. Not the best I’ve had but they weren’t terrible.

mcdonalds
Spotted in Toys ‘R’ Us. Sick.

bridge
The bridge coming back home from the Mater Hospital, never ever get bored of it.

blurb
Christina has been working hard on making a family book of old photos (such awesome old photos too), we’ll be using Blurb to print and publish it, should come up a treat and it’ll be a great gift for her side of the family.

HORRIBLE body shop experience – 350z ruined

I’ve just become aware of this amazing story – well worth the read, shocking and highly entertaining, just be sure you have half an hour to spare as it’s long but it’s worthy!

Cheap thrills

New boss kit. Still waiting for the right steering wheel (will settle for a 350mm one which is smaller than the oem 370mm). In the meantime I’m using my Italvolanti wheel which has been a display in the house for a few years.

Yup it’s Takumi’s, it feels great but damn it’s ugly!

Also got some Spoon style power mirrors for kicks. I’ve been buying so much shit on eBay lately, must be Christmas fever.

Mirrors are on.

SBS Secrets and Lives

I’ve been working on an interface for design for a new documentary show on SBS called “Secrets and Lives”. It’s now live so I can finally talk about it!

PreviousNext hired me to be the head creative on the job, it was a super tight deadline but it was a lot of fun. The site’s a lot more interactive than most of the SBS sub-sites, each episode on TV is represented online with an interactive “webisode”.

You can check out the site here:

Hope you like it!

Pictures from today’s exhaust installation

Toilet stop.

Tips a nice day!

JDM YO!

OOH LA LA!

Out with the old!

The kit including remote controls to turn the volume on or off.

In with the new.

The exhaust sounds insane. It’s loud but not too loud. The sound is still definitely 100% R32 Golf but it’s a lot meaner at the same time. In soft mode it’s a little too soft but the option is a great one to have.

I pick Suga up from work later this afternoon. I’m sure she’ll be absolutely itching to hit the tunnels tonight!

Happy B’day Bikes Move Us

How quickly time has flown by! Bikes Move Us is 1 year old today with 928 members and growing strong.

I’ve recieved a bit of thanks for starting the forum here, but a forum is nothing without it’s contributing members. Every single rider I’ve met through the BMU forums is a champ. Here’s to many more years!
